What’s your role?
I am the Logistics officer and I make sure that our team get to where they need to be and have the support they need. I also support Ministry of Health to deliver activities such as Child Health Week and vaccination programmes.
What made you decide to work for On Call Africa?
I decided to join OCA because of the rural community work that OCA does. I also joined so that I can learn more about the work of OCA and to offer my services to support rural communities.
What makes On Call Africa different?
Supporting rural communities, not many organisations work in rural communities in Zambia, as OCA does. Very different work.
What’s been your biggest achievement at On Call Africa so far?
In one of the facilities, we usually go for volunteering I managed to bring community members together through sports, supported them to come up with a football club team and led them to be registered under Football Association of Zambia. That’s one of my biggest achievements because I love bringing people together and through my favourite sport football.
Tell me something about you that no one else knows…
I’m a qualified football coach under Football Association of Zambia.
Have you got any tips on Zambia for future volunteers?
To read more about Zambian culture before you come and try to adapt and learn from others when you are here. People often experience culture shock when they come to live and work in a new culture.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time I enjoy coaching a group of 30 people (boys) under a Football Association of Zambia.
Why should we support On Call Africa?
We should support OCA because of its unique work that it does to rural community. It’s doing a good job of making those who feel to be unrecognised to feel recognised in life, like to bring access to better life for rural areas and support primary health care.
