Last week, On Call Africa held its annual team away day. For the first time ever, we had all members of our Zambia and UK teams in one place, working together. We were also incredibly fortunate to have On Call Africa trustees, Dr. Arnold Bhebhe and McLean Kabwe, join us for the day, along with some of our most valued volunteers.
The theme of the day was “responding to change,” which gave the team an opportunity to explore how change impacts everyone and the role we can play in supporting one another through periods of transition. We also held a session on MBTI personality types, discussing how our individual personalities can influence the way we respond to change.
The chance to work together on understanding how we respond to change, building trust, and ensuring honesty and inclusivity came at the perfect time. We are currently in the midst of a leadership transition, with Nkandu Chikonde stepping into the role of CEO as Ben Margetts steps down. We are fortunate to have Nkandu and Ben working closely together over a two-month period to ensure a smooth transition for the entire team.
The away day provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on and celebrate our successes over the past five years, while also looking ahead to the exciting changes Nkandu will bring to the role and to On Call Africa.
